Recognized as one of today’s most creative strength and conditioning coaches,
Steve’s talent for constructing fresh, well rounded and effective mixed-modality workouts is legendary.
Steve has a long history of competitive grappling. He wrestled competitively through high school and college (NCAA Div, 1) and in the US Army. He now holds a 4th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His BJJ competition record includes five Pan American and three World Championship gold medals.
Steve is considered the north American Master of the Russian Kettlebell and single-handedly resurrected the Windmill and Turkish Get-up movements in their kettlebell application. He founded Maxercise Sports/Fitness in 1990, in Philadelphia– the first gym in the US to offer group kettlebell classes in modern times.
Steve’s joint mobility training system for dynamic mobility is a recent example of how he integrates multiple disciplines and techniques, producing an effective and accessible system for retaining or regaining range of motion.
Steve holds a Masters degree in Exercise Science from West Chester State University, in PA.
Steve is in demand for Strength & Conditioning, MMA coaching, wrestling clinics, Kettlebell, Bodyweight, Mobility Conditioning, Joint Mobility, Mixed-Modality and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu seminars. His latest offering is a classical physical education event: The Fundamentals of Human Movement.

His latest book is Kettlebell Conditioning System.
Steve is the power and personality behind many popular video workouts, available on DVD and download formats.
